Simona Premazzi and Kyle Nasser have played together for more than a decade, but in late 2021, they hatched the idea to start a collaborative group, each doing half the writing. The rhythm section features bassist Noah Garabedian and drummer Jay Sawyer.

“Dizzying musical turns that can switch on a dime from hard-swinging Coltrane Quartet-inspired compositions, to spiky Monk-ish piano tics, to richly harmonized ballad work, these bandmates deliver an array of surprising delights to their listeners. Swing, abstraction, and lyricism, all find a place within this ensemble, and balance the traditional with the novel – historical awareness, copious counterpoint, strong melodies, and groove.

The Premazzi//Nasser Quartet regularly plays in NYC and tours in the US and abroad such as Providencia International Jazz Festival in Santiago de Chile (photo) and Rochester Int Jazz Festival. The new album “From What I Recall” will be released on Origin Records in May 2025.
